On June 2, 2015, a disciplinary panel of the Texas Medical Board temporarily suspended, without notice, the Texas medical license of Abbie Ewell, M.D., after determining her continuation in the practice of medicine poses a continuing threat to public welfare. The suspension was effective immediately.
The Board panel found that on May 6, 2015, the Board received an emergency referral from the Texas Physician Health Program (TXPHP) based on Dr. Ewell’s self-report of being unsafe to practice due to a recent relapse of a mental or physical condition.
A temporary suspension hearing with notice will be held as soon as practicable with 10 days’ notice to Dr. Ewell, unless the hearing is specifically waived by Dr. Ewell.
The temporary suspension remains in place until the Board takes further action.
